Dorothy King: “Skopje was never called Macedonia”

A few hours before the announcements from the Amphipolis tomb, Dorothy King puts an end to the claims of Skopje.

Alexander the Great had also conquered the modern Iran and Afghanistan, and none of these countries did not ever claim that they were part of Ancient Macedonia!”
The Sculptures of the Parthenon that Elgin brought to London, were the best proof that the Roman sculptures were not superior to ancient Greek, but simply copies»

The archaeologist Dorothy King, hits again. And she puts in her own way, a gravestone to the contentions of our neighbors in Skopje with a few words.

In her blog, which we read every day, Ms. King referred to the propaganda that is made in various countries, including theRepublic of Macedoniaand debunks in the most simple and scientific manner everything the leaders and people of this country claim in relation to Macedonia and Alexander the Great.

She writes, amongst other things:

Skopje had several names in antiquity but the name Macedonia was never one of them. Admittedly the ancient Macedonians conquered the region, but Alexander also conquered the modern Iran and Afghanistan, and none of these countries did not ever claim that they were part of Ancient Macedonia! “

Ms. King also refers to another great controversy that exists, regarding the Parthenon Marbles and the ancient Romans in relation to the Ancient Greeks.

She writes:

The Parthenon Sculptures that Elgin brought to London, were the best proof in favour of the Greek people, that the Roman sculptures were not superior to ancient Greek, but mere copies! The Greek culture which was hidden”  from 400 years of slavery by the Ottomans, became an object of admiration and lead a large group of people to help Greece in its struggle to being free from the Turks. Regardless of what we think today about Elgin, at that particular time his actions unwittingly, of course led the western world to help the Greeks buy weapons and free their homeland by the Ottomans. “
